First Meeting - Bring your laptops!

Date and time: Thursday, November 8th from 7:00p to 9:00p.

Location: Tech Foundation
30 Brattle St.
Cambridge, MA 02138

We'll be meeting at the Tech Foundation space on Brattle St. in Harvard Square. The conference room is equiped with wi-fi and an overhead projector so you can bring your laptops and we can try some things and get hands-on. There will be snacks and beverages available. Herer's a general agenda for the meeting:

1.) Introductions and interests

2.)Administravia - how often to meet, what nights are good, topics for presentations and/or workshops, etc.

3.) An overview of the BJoomUG website - major components: mojoblog (JD-WP's successor), SOBI2 Business Directory which I hope to get all of our deveopers, consultants and other resources listed in, Events calendar and registration system, and Acajoom mailing list/enewsletter component. What template I'm using and why I like it. How we can use the site going forward.

4.) Some example websites - We'll take a look at some of the websites people have been working on or have built. I'd like to talk about the templates people have used, whether they are custom or free templates, what components are featured on the sites, and what business issues you are focusing on with the sites.

5.) Template strategies - options for finding free templates and modifying them and purchasing custom tempaltes. NVU, Dreamweaver plugins, JSAS, templating systems including the plans for Joomla 1.5 templates.

6.) General networking and refreshments

That's probably more than enough to get things off the ground...

If you know you will be coming please register so we know approximately how many people are coming. You can register by clicking here .

I've also openned the site for registration. You can register by clicking here .

I'm looking forward to see you there...

Thanks,

Scott
